Nestled in the foothills below the High-Languedoc National Park, Autignac village is located in the Herault department (34), set among the famouse Faugeres wine growing region of France. From this lovely, authentic village (population approx. 864), it is only 35 minutes drive to the nearest mediterranean beaches (e.g. Serignan plage and Valras plage), and just 15 minutes drive from the historic town of Beziers and 40 minutes to Narbonne.
Autignac village boasts a restaurant/bar, boulangerie, pharmacy and a small general store selling organic produce. Popular with families there is also a village school. Located in the centre of the village, the picturesque chateau is currently being restored to provide an up-market chambres d'hotes, due to open in 2015.
The Languedoc is a region of wild beauty and fierce history with the ruins of the many Cathar castles, testiment to it's bloody past.
There are a wealth of activities available all year round for all ages, namely, wine tasting, hill walking, golf, kayaking, fishing, water parks, zip-wire forest adventure park and go-karting.
